The family of Abel Rudolph Suazo II, sends this heartfelt message to all who knew him, respected him,
love him, of his passing, on February 22, 2025, at Parkview Care Center, 3105 W Arkansas, Denver CO
80219, with family near. He was 84 years old. Abel was the son of Abel Rudolph Suazo Senior and Dora
Sosa Suazo of Denver CO. He spent his early life living in Denver with family, and many relatives and
friends. Abel attended Denver Public Schools. Abel served his country as a member of the United States
Army from August of 1960 to January of 1964. He deployed to Korea where he served with honor. Abel
honored and enjoyed parenthood by providing for, by loving, by guiding, by recreation activities, by
attending church services with his children and attending to their religious education, and by introducing
the nuances of life to his children Danielle, Abel Rudolph Suazo III and Alma Mia. In 1979 Abel moved to
Trinidad CO and worked eight years for the railroad as a brakeman. After his eight years of residence in
Trinidad, CO he returned to Denver. Abel was entrepreneurial and created a business Abel’s Creative
Candies. Abel went to school for cosmetology and worked as a Cosmetologist in Denver. Abel loved
music and in 1960 got his start in music with Dave and Vincent forming a local band that had its
beginning in the basement of the Tick Club. The Stratatones, as the band was known by, played local as
well out of state. Abel played the guitar, banjo, and harmonica. Abel had a resemblance that would
strike you as Elvis Presley and a voice that was very striking; he had a good voice, and sang many musical
genres with acceptance and positive review by his audience. He loved to sing in Spanish to those of
Spanish descent. He sang the songs of Elvis and Frank Sinatra, as well as other popular singers of the
day, once again with positive review. As his niece and goddaughter, Bernadette, wrote, “He loved his
music-playing his guitar. That made him happy. Jamming! & helping the community.”. One of Abel’s
great joys was being appointed as a commissioner to the Denver Housing Authority by Denver Mayor
Wellington Webb. He was thankful for this appointment and served with distinction from 1994 to 1999.
He also served his community by active membership in the following community organizations and
action committees: Recognized by Denver City Council for Sun Valley Residents as a council
representative, Colorado Family Institute, Denver Area Youth Services as an active member, AmeriCorps
VISTA helping low-income communities and including low-income homeless students, and the 1999
Leadership and Drug Prevention Conference Award. Able is preceded in passing by his father Abel
Rudolph Suazo Senior, his mother Dora Sosa Suazo, sister Patsy Hernandez, and son Abel Rudolf Suazo
III. Able is survived by sisters Jessica Vasquez, Loretta Carriola, Becky Gonzalez and brother Raleigh
Chavez. And family Lucy Suazo, Danielle Keeser, Alma Mia Suazo. Grandchildren: Danielle, Elizabeth,
Kenneth, Khaled, Melody and Brandon.
