“When we die, we leave behind us all that we have, but we take with us all that we are, and all that we gave.” Author unknown.
Charles “Chuck” Colborg was just a few weeks shy of his 97th birthday when he passed away. He outlived his beloved wife, siblings, and most of his friends. Chuck enjoyed a remarkable 66 years of marriage to his soulmate, “Val,” before her passing. He was the proud father of six children, grandfather to 16, great-grandfather to 12, and great-great-grandfather to three, along with a multitude of friends who cherished him. During his high school years, Chuck volunteered to join the army. Shortly after graduating, he served in World War II, earning the “World War II Victory Medal” and the “Army of Occupation Medal – Japan” for his service. Following in his father's footsteps with over 96 years of combined service, he dedicated his career to the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, where he worked until his retirement after many years of commitment. A Colorado native, Chuck had a deep love for the outdoors. He frequently took his family camping, instilling in them a love and respect for the natural beauty of the land. He loved to fish, play games, tell jokes, and make people smile. After retiring, he and Val traveled extensively, exploring various countries and sharing their adventures with friends and family. Chuck was known for his calm demeanor and ability to forgive easily, always seeing the best in those around him and encouraging those positive traits. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and loved unconditionally, welcoming new family members with open arms. Though Chuck will be profoundly missed by many, those who remain find comfort in knowing he is in a better place, reunited with his beloved wife.
God bless and thank you.
