Helen I. VanWyngarden

Helen Irene VanWyngarden passed away peacefully in the care of Hospice of Brighton and the Staff of Nightingale Suites in Arvada, Colorado on Monday February 10, 2025. She was born September 6, 1932, in Morrill, NE to Wilhelm and Eva Lind. She graduated from Torrington High School in Wyoming. Helen married Raymond S. VanWyngarden April 25, 1954, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.The couple made their homes in Shreveport, LA, Denver, Thornton and settled in Arvada Colorado where they lived for over 50 years.

Helen was employed at Mountain Bell, AT&T, Lange Ski Corporation and also volunteered at her son’s elementary schools and cub scouts. Helen was a member of Arvada United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golf, gardening and traveling and was always hitting estate sales looking for treasures. 

Helen is survived by her son Tim VanWyngarden and wife, Sally TeStrake of Steamboat Springs, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond in 2014; son Daniel in 1975; 2 sisters and 13 brothers. 

Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation in her honor to the Parkinson’s association of the Rockies or the American Cancer Society. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the future.
